OMGOMGOMG this book is such a twisty mindfuck like I'd think I know what was happening but then it'd throw me off after which I'd change my mind and it would start all over so towards the end I was like WHICH IS IT.

There's nothing better than a thriller with an unreliable narrator (and love the lies pun in the title since all the main character does is lie). Ugh, totally my kind of a thriller with almost all of the characters being so terrible and the ending is just so 'holy shit, it really is

Ugh, totally my kind of a thriller with almost all of the characters being so terrible and the ending is just so 'holy shit, it really is that level of sick?' and so satisfying and FEELSY AND GAAAAH.

Lastly, this book has NO chapters, just these little dividers throughout so you just can't stop reading it which a little rude but I liked the setup.

I NEED MORE CRISTIN TERRILL BOOKS IN MY LIFE, WORLD.

    So so

good. It was mind-twisty and heartbreaking and the writing was simply

and I just finished it and kind of wanted to hurl it across the room. <--- In the BEST possible way. Omg why. WHY.

You are a glorious book, dear Daniel Tate, and I hate you a little

    bit. <3 <3

    (In the best possible way.)

    Although, his name

Although, his name isn't Daniel Tate, obviously, because he's some random abused con artist teenager who decided to fake being this rich abducted kid. Then he gets all caught up in this super super rich and SUPER SUPER MESSED UP family and kind of falls in love with the idea of being loved/cared for.

I just so felt for Danny. I

wanted good things to happen to him because he was a precious cinnamon. He spends his whole life pretending to be other people and like he doesn't even KNOW who he is.

And had the cursed idea of having no chapters, just sort of scene breaks. So basically haha and LOL @ YOU if you think you can just put it down and go live a life. No. You get to sit. You get to read. You get to get emotionally tangled up in hoping Danny's life works out but having a SICK DREAD FEELING the whole time.

    So I'm notoriously pleased.

    I also loved how

Erm, well, all the characters except the love interest who was like the most random-thrown-in-and-pointless romance ever. [rolls eyes to the heavens] But Danny's stolen family was so interested. Completely messed up af. But so so interesting.

    Because

I do actually have small quibbles though...But I still think it thoroughly deserves 5 stars because it just was so so well written and really hit me in the feels

    many times.

    • totally unnecessary and weak romance and I'm super over them

    • I thought one of the plot twists was REALLY obvious

    • I know the point of the narrator/Danny was that he was filling in shoes and therefore always trying to figure out who he was...but I kind of wish he'd had a

more internal personality. However it's a SMOL quibble because, again, I think that was the point of his character.

Because duuuuuude. Let's give your teenagers SUVs and credit cards and perfection and then watch them burn the world down. Nice. I will not ever understand, my mateys.

It was perfect and twisty and maddening and I

    .

I really loved Danny and I adored the mystery and I will applaud the writing for at least three hundred years and then directly want to read this author's other book. Immediately. It totally captivated me and I just wanted to read and read and do nothing else! SIGN OF A GOOD BOOK.

I loved Cristin's other book, so I was dying to get my greedy hands on this one.

I don't know how much I can say without ruining anything, so this will be vague. I loved the characters, the story, the constant guessing, and the ending was mind blowing.

Do yourself a favor and pick it up asap. Especially if you like mind fuckery.

I CALLED IT I CALLED ALL OF IT HAHAHAHA.

    That was brilliant.

Someday I'll realize that the - albeit fake - instant gratification YA thrillers offer me (IamsocleveramInot)

    and I'll stop reading them.

    Do you believe me?

    As for

, the only reason I finished it was my undying love for

    . Don't be like me.
